 About Popups
With this button you edit your Popup.ini file. (Popups are the menus that appear when you right-click with your mouse). Notice that it is made of five parts:-
 Status:-
These are the popups that appear when you right-click in your Status Window.
Channel:-
These are the popups that appear when you right-click
on any Channel window. You can copy here, from the
Status popup, whatever popup you think is useful for
you, when you are in a channel.
Query/Chat Window:-
These are the popups that appear when you right-click
on your Query or Chat window.
Nickname List:-
These are the popups that appear when you right-click
on your Channel names List, that is the names of the
people in a channel that you see at the right side
of your Channel window.
Menubar:-
These are the popups that appear when you click
Other
on your mIRC Bar.
Note:-
You can hide the menubar if you press option and uncheck
[Show menubar]
Examples
Suppose you frequently ask for help, instead of typing
each time the same question you can put this in your
popup.ini under Main Window:-
Help:/say I need help, can anybody help me please?
Don't forget
to
[Save]
your popup.ini.
Next time when you right-click on your main window,
highlight Help and left click it, mIRC will ask the
question for you!!. Great isn't it.
Did you
notice
the similarity between aliases and popups, in fact
popup works exactly like aliases. With aliases you
have to remember what stands for what with popups you
can
see
. You can even call an alias from a popup menu. Remember
what we did in the aliases section. We put this in
our aliases.ini.
/h /say Hi everybody, What's up? Did I miss anything?
So if you put in your popup.ini under Main Window the
following:-
Say hello:/h
What do you thing it will happen when you right-click
on your main window, Highlight Say hello and left click
it.
Organise your Popups
You will soon notice that after a couple of new popups,
your screen would quickly get cluttered every time
you right-click. To solve that problem organise your
popups into
Hierarchical menus
. Try entering all of the following popups:
Help me
.Help:/say I need help, can anybody help me please?
.Thanks:/say Thanks for your help.
Notice
the dots
before Help and Thanks. With the dots we're specifying
that these commands should show under Help me.
Or try the following
mIRC
.Compliment
..Great:/say mIRC is great.
..Best:/say I think mIRC is the best.
.About mIRC
..Shareware:/me informs everybody that mIRC is
shareware
..Register:/say Please register your mIRC
Notice the
dots
again. One dot means that Compliment and About mIRC
are under mIRC and the ones with
two dots
are under the ones with
one dot
and so on it goes.
You can go up to four level deep.
NOTE:-
You can see how your popup will look like by clicking
the Popup, next to view.
